    Faculty of Engineering, which is one of the first faculties of our university, started education with Mechanical and Electronics Engineering Departments on March 1, 1977. There are now 14 departments in our Faculty. In addition to the Mechanical and Electronics Engineering Departments, the following departments were opened: Civil and Industrial Engineering (1991), Computer Engineering and Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering (1995), Textile Engineering (1996), Environment and Food Engineering (1998), Materials Science and Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering (2005), Biomedical Engineering (2007), Energy Systems Engineering (2009) and Industrial Design Engineering (2010). The Mechanical and Electronics Engineering Departments started the evening education as from 1992-1993 Academic Year and the Department of Civil Engineering as from 2003-2004 Academic Year. The Industrial and Computer Engineering Departments started the evening education in 2009-2010 Academic Year. Since 2004, double-major and minor education programs have been implemented in our faculty. There is a one-year compulsory English preparatory class education in all departments of the faculty.

    The academic staff of our faculty consists of 26 professors, 26 associate professors, 84 assistant professors, 10 lecturers, 81 research assistants and 1 expert. Students are accepted to our faculty according to the quantitative score type from OSS exam and they receive compulsory English preparatory class education for one year.

    The Faculty which has advanced infrastructure and facilities has been successful in many national and international projects and studies. According to the statistics of 2006, it has been 3rd in terms of the number of publications per faculty member among 54 engineering faculties affiliated to state universities.
