MÜDEK

WHAT IS MÜDEK?

Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) is a non-governmental organization operating to contribute to the improvement of the quality of engineering education in Turkey by carrying out accreditation, evaluation and information studies for engineering education programs in different disciplines.

MÜDEK was established with the name of Engineering Evaluation Board as an independent, non-governmental platform in 2002 by the Engineering Deans Council (MDK), which consists of the deans of faculties providing engineering education in Turkey and the TRNC, in order to organize and conduct a detailed program for the evaluation of engineering undergraduate programs within these faculties. MÜDEK started the evaluation of engineering programs in 2003 and became a member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) in 2006. This platform became a non-governmental organization called Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association on January 25, 2007 by continuing to use the abbreviated name MÜDEK and gained legal entity. It was officially recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) on 16 November, 2007 as a national quality assurance agency dealing with national, sectoral and program specific competencies in the engineering programs of higher education institutions and was authorized by ENAEE to give the EUR-ACE Label to the engineering education programs it will accredit as of January 21, 2009.
